Archor: the leading construction lawyers in East Anglia

We’re delighted to once again be recognised as the leading construction lawyers in East Anglia by both legal directories, The Legal 500 and Chambers.

Chambers 2025

In its 2025 edition, Legal 500 rank Archor as a Tier 1 firm (alongside some national and international heavyweights). Together with a recognition that we are “simply one of the best firms in the region for construction law”, it says that Managing Partner Ruth Kavanagh has “extremely good sense of the merits of the case and how to achieve the best commercial outcome for her client”. It also notes that “Clients appreciate Rory Abel for his ‘excellent, no-nonsense advice‘”, “the ‘friendly, smart’ Oli Worth is an emerging partner talent who has in-depth knowledge of complex adjudications”, and that “Carolyn Porter is highly regarded for contract negotiations”.

Individually, Senior Partner Andrew Rush remains in the Hall of Fame (“The lawyers at the very top of the profession, widely known and respected by peers and clients for their longstanding involvement in market-leading work”), with Ruth as a ‘Leading Partner’ (“The strongest partners in their field, leading on market-leading deals and endorsed by peers and clients alike”) and Oli as a ‘Next Generation Partner’. That’s more partners ranked than any other construction team in the region.

Meanwhile, Chambers also puts Archor in its Band 1 and like Legal 500 individually ranks Andrew, Ruth and Oli, as well as Rory who is noted as “a really talented lawyer who responds lightning-quick and has a real knack for tailoring his approach accordingly”. Again, that’s more partners ranked than any other firm, and Archor makes up more than a quarter of all ranked partners in the area.

Both directories base their rankings on a thorough review of the market and interview with hundreds of clients and contacts. Without great feedback from our clients – and great work from them in the first place – we wouldn’t be where we are. And of course, being ranked so highly – punching well above our weight – wouldn’t be possible without the great team we have.
