Jane Macdonald

I joined Archor in 2026, returning to the legal profession after a career in education. Before becoming a teacher, I spent 15 years as a Commercial Property lawyer with a well-known Top 50 UK law firm, specialising in licensed properties.

My experience covered a broad range of commercial property work, including the sale and purchase of licensed premises, leases and the sale of businesses connected with pub properties. I acted for both landlords and tenants and dealt with the wide range of licences, agreements and other documentation that form part of commercial property transactions.

I am enjoying getting back into the legal profession and am excited to build on my property experience by broadening my knowledge into construction law. I bring with me strong analytical and organisational skills, attention to detail and considerable experience of working with clients, negotiating transactions and dealing with complex legal documentation.

Outside the office, I can often be found playing my violin with various local groups and orchestras – or with my nose in a book!
