I am a trainee solicitor at Archor. Prior to joining, I had expensive experience as a construction paralegal, having worked for a large international law firm for three years.
Given my previous roles, I have a slight bias towards non-contentious work. I have experience in various procurements routes and construction suites, such as JCT and NEC, and have acted on contract negotiations for consultants, sub-contractors and employers alike. My focus used to be on care home developments, but has broadened to include residential, commercial and educational developments. I am fairly autonomous and have experience in managing appointment procurement and advising on how to go about getting all of those ancillary documents in place.
My legal career started fairly late in the day, having previously studied Japanese and lived abroad in Japan for over three years teaching English at a private institution. It’s fairly niche, but if you have any Japanese construction contracts (or contracts in general), feel free to throw them my way! I’m fluent in Japanese and have experience in translation.
In my spare time, I (try to) keep my Japanese skills up to scratch, spend far too much time looking at pictures of my cat, and (much to the amusement of my colleagues) make too many rugs.
