Sophie Bennett

Associate 

I am an Associate at Archor. I qualified in November 2023 after training at Archor, prior to which I had extensive experience as a construction paralegal, having worked for a large international law firm for three years.

Given my previous roles, I mainly focus on non-contentious development work. I have experience in various procurements routes and construction suites, such as JCT and NEC, and have acted on contract negotiations for consultants, sub-contractors and employers alike. I am familiar with work in the care home, residential, commercial and educational sectors. I am fairly autonomous and have experience in managing appointment procurement and advising on how to go about getting all of those ancillary documents in place, as well as working as part of the wider Archor team on projects big and small.

My legal career started fairly late in the day, having previously studied Japanese and lived abroad in Japan for over three years teaching English at a private institution. It’s fairly niche, but if you have any Japanese construction contracts (or contracts in general), feel free to throw them my way! I’m fluent in Japanese and have experience in translation.

In my spare time, I (try to) keep my Japanese skills up to scratch, spend far too much time looking at pictures of my cat, and (much to the amusement of my colleagues) make too many rugs.
